Sewage Disposal: The Health District ensures that septic tanks and other on-site sewage disposal systems are properly planned, installed and operated to prevent the spread of disease. For additional information refer to Septic System Permits. Contact: 465-8402.
Waste Disposal: Southwest District Health (SWDH), Environmental Health Services regulates Waste Disposal, in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ), by approving the Operation and Maintenance Manuals and conducting the annual inspections at each of the four municipal and numerous non-municipal landfills located in SWDH service area. Municipal Landfills are sites that accept and landfill household waste under approved sanitary conditions. Below are the locations of all the Municipal Landfills located in SWDH Service area by County.
Non-Municipal sites can be Construction & Demolition Landfills but usually take the form of Transfer Stations (Tier II), facilities that accept household waste for the purpose of shipping the waste to a Sanitary Landfill.
