IRIS is a statewide computer-based system to keep track of immunization records. Participation in IRIS is voluntary.
Parents will be requested to sign a consent form for their child's records to be included. The more children who
participate, the more useful the database will be for medical purposes.
Iris benefits the community by facilitating adequate immunization for all individuals, enhancing the overall health
status and indicators for our state. Direct benefits for healthcare/service providers include the following:
- Sends reminder cards to parents of children needing immunizations
- Accesses clinic immunization levels for quality assurance
- Provides quick/easy immunization documentation for schools and daycares
- Decreases staff time retrieving immunization records
- Provides data to enable accurate assessment of patients' immunization status
- Reduces duplication of effort from provider to provider
- Avoids missed opportunities to give needed vaccinations
- Helps providers determine what immunizations are due
You can find additional informtion on Iris at the Idaho Immunization Program's web site.
